The battle continues......
A number of beastmen herds were routed in the west and it looked being an early conclusion in favour of the defenders as more troops came on board.
Turn 4
A sad hour for the good army and a turn in fortunes, first in the east flank the WE entlings succumbed to swarms of bats and ethereal wraiths. Then the unearthly Corpse cart rattled into the elven cavalry, the caged bodies inside clawing at all within reach. The White wolf general went to aid of elves, but they fell before the cart and he failed to ride free, caught between cart & beastmen, he joined the undead host.
A glimmer of hope came in the West with the dragon eating the foul chaos beast lord Morghor (chewy). The Ent and last of other good units turned up and the bat swarms finally fell to the thrashing branches of entlings.
Turn 5
As the corpse cart trundled on gathering the fallen, a Warhorse succeed were the White wolf knights had failed, kicking a wheel off the cart leaving it in the dirt.
The Wraiths continued up the East flank, destroying a unit of tree kin and sending WE archers fleeing the field in terror at their approach.
The dragon and elven chariot waded into the milling chaos spawn as Church of Sigmars fanatics advanced through the western forests, smiting down beasts with flails and sermons. Elsewhere faith was low, the White wolf order considered charging the advancing dragon ogres, but their nerve failed them without their lord.
Elven spearmen entered the fray in the east, charging a unit of skeletons. Only as they closed did they see that the 'necromancers' on the front rank were vampires. In a one sided clash they took to their heels, the undead in close pursuit. More entlings charged other skeletons, but were likewise driven off.
Turn 6
Dragon ogres charged the White wolf and scattered them. The minotaurs charged the badly wounded dragon, but it held them off nearly routing them.
The Black Coach found a gap in the line due to some necromancy and charged the wood elf ent. A combat that did neither of them much good (note for scroll, don't charge a tree with a chariot).
The Banshee's howl echoed round the chapel (the only Evil unit to have reached that far up the field), but to no effect. The responding majic missiles were a different story, the Cairn Wraiths taking their first serious wounds of the battle.
At this point both armies fell back to regroup, agreeing a draw. The eastern flank was mostly held by the undead (one badly damaged Ent to sort out). With the Chapel forming the corner post, the H Elves and Empire were mostly formed up in the North West facing off the beasts to the south, the dragon, chariot and other units sorteying out ahead of the lines. Two handed swords to the rear gave them a strong defence in depth.
Surprisingly on a count up very few points had gone, only about a third of each army, indicating how much lay in characters and un engaged elite units.
